Project Description
Quantum Computing is a fast evolving field with large efforts in academia, industry and government. Current efforts are directed towards realizing an intermediate scale quantum computer with hundreds of qubits that will reach a quantum advantage without fault tolerant quantum correction. Trapped-ions are one of the main platforms for the realization of such a Noisy, Intermediate-scale Quantum computer (NISQ).
Project objectives
Build and operate two multi-qubit trapped-ion quantum registers, develop and investigate methods to execute high-fidelity entanglement gates on multi-qubit registers and use them to execute several quantum protocols. The Ozeri group at the Weizmann Institute will carry out the experimental work. Theory and development of gates and algorithms will be carried out by the Retzker group at the Hebrew university in Jerusalem.
